Amid the rapidly evolving changes in higher education, coupled with a new capital campaign, KU Endowment embraced its strategic planning process as a means of amplifying its impact and welcoming change.
KU Endowment partnered with BWF to launch a comprehensive and collaborative engagement that involved an in-depth development assessment followed by a strategic planning process. This involved discussion and feedback across multiple areas and leaders that was paired with data analysis. Once the results from the assessment were thoroughly analyzed and reviewed, an organization-wide strategic planning process began designed to build on the assessment’s results and drive organizational change.
“Our collaboration with BWF meant that as a leadership team, we were able to keep our thoughts focused on vision and strategy rather than on facilitating the mechanics of the plan’s process and formulation. This effort was successful because BWF not only guided the overall process and its design, but also produced timely, relevant, and effective deliverables.”Dan MartinPresident • Kansas University Endowment Association
The combination of these efforts proved immensely beneficial to the organization. BWF’s expertise at facilitating and driving the strategic planning process freed the KU Endowment team to focus first on their core commitments and long-term vision. The team was then able to translate those aspirations into strategies that addressed both areas highlighted in the assessment as well as those that fell outside the scope of the initial assessment for a holistic perspective.
As a result of the combined engagement, KU Endowment received a new strategic plan, updated organizational planning process, and significant change recommendations for its development practices.
