MN Children’s Museum Rochester, now Spark, had outgrown its small space in the city and wanted to build a new $2.6M children’s museum. They wanted the community’s and key stakeholders’ input and needed to determine the philanthropic potential to support the campaign. The staff was lean, and some had never executed a campaign before.

The campaign planning study provided Spark with the opinions of key community stakeholders and the museum’s top philanthropists about the best site for the museum and the level of philanthropic support for such a move. Ongoing campaign counsel helped guide board leadership and the development staff to effectively reach their campaign goals. Philanthropy coaching and training for the board and staff, new prospect identification research, major gift cultivation and solicitation coaching, and assembling campaign strategies ultimately led to a successful museum grand opening in the summer of 2020 with a balance sheet showing positive operating revenue.

BWF provides the blueprint for a successful and competent campaign that ensures potential donors their money will be used conscientiously.
