As the Missouri State University Foundation approached its 40th anniversary in 2021, the CEO saw the pending milestone as the ideal time to engage in its first-ever strategic planning effort and explore ways to better engage the board.
The year-long effort began with the formation of a Strategic Planning Steering Committee, followed by a facilitated retreat with that group. The outcomes of the retreat included new vision and mission statements and the formation of subcommittees to work on drafting sections of the strategic plan. The committees met regularly (via Zoom) during the spring and summer months to work on writing the plan and making revisions, ultimately culminating in the completion of the written plan. The Foundation Board unanimously approved adoption of the plan at its October 2020 board meeting.
“This effort was successful because BWF took the time to understand our needs and current situation and where we want to go. We were backed up by an experienced team in all phases of development.”Brent DunnVice President for Advancement and CEO • Missouri State University Foundation
