The Minnesota Zoo’s current animal hospital is more than 50 years old and challenging for animals, caretakers, and additional Zoo team members to access and use. The Minnesota Zoo Foundation sought to embark on a capital campaign to build a new, state-of-the-art wildlife hospital and wellness center. The new centrally located facility will dramatically increase the amount of high-quality, preventive care available to the over 400 zoological species living at the Minnesota Zoo.
In planning for the upcoming capital campaign, the Foundation saw a need to develop a strong, compelling case for support to tell its story and ensure supporting communication efforts were strategic. The Foundation partnered with BWF to develop campaign priorities and to write, design, and produce a public-facing case statement.
“Our collaboration with BWF meant that our story could be told in a unique, refreshing way. The BWF team was a great partner and exceeded our expectations by helping effectively capture the spirit and objectives of our project.”Jeff SulzbachDirector of Major Gifts • Minnesota Zoo Foundation
The project began with a series of interviews to gather information and feedback regarding the campaign’s case for support. From these interviews, the Foundation was able to make informed decisions regarding the campaign priorities. The overall process ultimately led to a powerful narrative detailing their case and mission. As a deliverable, the Foundation received a fully designed, high-impact case statement able to be shared in the campaign efforts to raise funds for the animal hospital.
The campaign is currently underway and showing promising outcomes as a result of the Foundation’s diligent planning efforts.
