Heidi Hopewell

Director of Annual Giving and Digital Marketing

When Heidi Hopewell began her career in higher education fundraising, her perspective on philanthropy forever changed when the university president shared how every role at the foundation, whether on the front lines or behind the scenes, touched the life of every student who crossed the graduation stage. She grew to understand that philanthropy isn’t just about financial gifts; it’s about the skills, perspectives, and unique contributions each person brings to an effort that together create meaningful, lasting impact.

People are at the heart of everything Heidi does in her work, and every nonprofit has a story worth telling. As director of annual giving and digital marketing at BWF, she helps organizations explore new ideas, uncover creative solutions, and share their stories in ways that inspire action. She thrives on finding innovative ways to maximize resources and support building lasting legacies. For Heidi, this field blends purpose, collaboration, and innovation, allowing her to contribute to something bigger while working alongside others to make a real difference.

Heidi volunteers as a board member for the Brookings County Youth Mentoring Program and as an advisory board member for the Leadership and Management of Nonprofit Organizations Program at South Dakota State University.

In her free time, Heidi’s happiest when she’s moving, exploring, or creating. She’s always up for an adventure, usually with her husband and kids by her side, and loves traveling to new places. She’s also drawn to anything active and outdoors including running, practicing yoga and CrossFit, hiking and backpacking, kayaking, and climbing. At home, she enjoys cooking, baking, and reading.
