For Minnesota State University, Mankato, Raisers Edge NXT wasn’t providing the reporting they needed to analyze fundraising results and prospect management. Fundraisers needed custom reporting for greater insight into managing the fundraising program. Their goal was to automate processes that impeded productivity and more easily expose meaningful insights within the data.

After accessing NXT data through the Blackbaud API, the data was used to build customized dashboards for fundraising progress/productivity, opportunity analysis, fundraiser goals, portfolio reviews, and portfolio engagement (i.e., recency of contact with prospects). Fully customized dashboards were also built to replace a specific year-over-year comparison report that was being generated manually. In a follow-up engagement, additional custom dashboards were created for tracking progress on an athletics/stadium campaign, including pulling in prospects who were specifically tagged for that campaign and identifying who had been student-athletes for specific sports.

Today, Minnesota State Mankato uses the dashboards to provide visibility into the team’s fundraising progress, prospecting efforts, and athletics campaign activity. Having adopted more sophisticated data analysis tools, the team can now quickly communicate strategy and automate the process of organizing and presenting data, thereby sharpening their efforts and improving decision-making.
