Over 20 years ago, Lani McCollar decided to leave behind a corporate career and pursue one in fundraising after a life-changing mission trip to a remote part of Tijuana, Mexico—and she has never looked back. To Lani, making a difference in people’s lives is what life is all about and working with her nonprofit clients fulfills that personal mission.
At BWF, Lani focuses on applying the firm’s national and global expertise to small- to medium-sized local organizations, providing them with philanthropic counsel on major giving growth and overall health of advancement programs, board engagement, campaign feasibility or planning studies, ongoing campaign counsel, assessments (board, mid-campaign, development), and philanthropic strategic planning.
For the past two years, Lani has been part of a team of philanthropy partners working to elevate the awareness, understanding, coaching, and training needed for fundraising professionals and their organizations when stewarding donors with either diagnosed and/or suspected cognitive impairment, namely dementia.
“I can do all things through Jesus Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13
Faith, family, and friends are Lani’s most ardent passions, along with the culture, cuisine, and dancing of her Greek heritage. She also enjoys entertaining, gardening, piano playing and singing, traveling, recreational sports, and Jimmy Buffet music.
