New Valley Hospital Gets $35 Million in Donations for Paramus Construction

The Valley Hospital began its fundraising for construction of a new hospital in Paramus with the announcement of two donations totaling $35 million.

The gifts — $15 million from the Bolger Foundation and $20 million from an anonymous donor — are among the largest ever given to New Jersey hospitals. They are the first as the hospital seeks support from the community for the 372-bed medical center, which is expected to be completed in 2023.

Historic $120 Million Gift from The Anschutz Foundation

The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus has received a $120 million gift, the largest private philanthropic commitment in its history, to further elevate its stature as one of the country’s top medical destinations.

The Anschutz Foundation and its founder and chair, Philip Anschutz, made the unprecedented commitment to accelerate the campus’s growth and development as one of the newest and most prominent academic medical campuses in the United States, the only one in the Rocky Mountain region, and the largest from Chicago to the West Coast. This gift brings The Anschutz Foundation’s total investment in the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus to nearly $300 million since 2000.

Ronald McDonald House Charities Gets $100 Million Gift From AbbVie

Ronald McDonald House Charities is receiving a record $100 million donation, to help provide housing and other services for child patients and their families.

The unprecedented $100 million donation came from AbbVie, a North Chicago-based pharmaceutical research company.

Dick Buell’s $10 Million Gift Endows Purdue Men’s Basketball Coaching Position

The Purdue Board of Trustees approved the largest one-time gift in Boilermaker athletics history and the creation of the L. Dick Buell Head Men’s Basketball Coaching position.

If the Clay City native and 1972 Purdue engineering grad had his way, that’s the last time his name would appear in this article. The retired marketing CEO behind the $10 million pledge said he isn’t motivated by ego or headlines.

Duke Donors Give $517 Million to Further University Priorities

More than 108,000 donors gave $517 million in gifts to Duke University during the last fiscal year, supporting priorities ranging from financial aid to research.

The total includes cash gifts from July 1, 2017, to June 30, 2018, but does not include pledges for future support and government contracts. It marks the second-highest amount ever raised by Duke in a single year.

ASU Donations Hold Tuition Line; Gifts, Pledges of $40.1M is Record

A record $40.1 million in donations and pledges to Arkansas State University during the past fiscal year helped the Jonesboro campus avoid a tuition increase this fall despite relatively stable state funding, Chancellor Kelly Damphousse said Thursday.

That sum surpassed the university’s previous record of $18.4 million raised in 2014-15.
