Janet Cady, of counsel, has been a leader in healthcare philanthropy for more than 25 years. She is best known for creating and launching successful foundations for two premier children’s hospitals. Her expertise encompasses board development and engagement, major gift and campaign strategy, foundation modeling, and executive coaching for chief development officers. No one better navigates the complex medical center and academic/scientific landscape, facilitating a positive institutional culture of philanthropy with faculty clinicians/scientists and hospital senior management and converting challenges to opportunities.
As executive chairman of Children’s Hospital Trust from 2011–2013, Jan served of counsel to the board and executive team, leading strategic projects and advancing key relationships for Boston Children’s Hospital. She founded the Children’s Hospital Trust in 1997, forging a new strategic model designed to dramatically advance the hospital’s development program. Under her 14 years as Trust president, philanthropic revenue grew from $13 million to nearly $100 million annually. On average, half of funds raised supported Children’s research enterprise, which is ranked fifth nationally in NIH funding. Prior to Boston, Cady served for 10 years as executive vice president of Children’s Hospital Foundation, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she led another major turnaround, created a new foundation, and substantially grew philanthropic support.
Bentz Whaley Flessner fundraising consultants build robust partnerships with hospitals, academic medical centers, children’s hospitals, and other healthcare systems that seek to grow their philanthropic resources and execute successful campaigns. We are the nation’s leading fundraising consulting firm for healthcare systems.
