IUP Alumni Couple to Give School its Largest Gift: $23 Million

Two graduates of Indiana University of Pennsylvania who grew up in hardscrabble coal-mining towns and became the first in their families to go to college have committed to making the largest donation in school history.

IUP announced the $23 million gift from the married couple, John and Char Kopchick.

Anonymous Donor Leaves $10 Million to Seattle Radio Station KEXP

Here’s all we know: Her name was Suzanne. She was generous with her money. She wanted to remain anonymous. And she loved music.

So much so, that before she died, Suzanne made the largest-ever philanthropic gift — just under $10 million — to Seattle radio station 90.3 KEXP FM.

Boca Raton Regional Hospital Lands $25 Million Gift

Continuing its record of landing big gifts from philanthropists, Boca Raton Regional Hospital said that it received a $25 million donation.

The gift comes from Johnson & Johnson heir Elaine J. Wold of Boca Raton and a nonprofit affiliated with her, the Bay Branch Foundation.

Northwestern Receives Largest Single Gift in History, Names New Science Building

Northwestern College has received the largest single gift in its history, a $6 million naming gift for its new $24.5 million facility for the health and natural sciences. President Greg Christy announced the gift and the building’s name, the Jack and Mary DeWitt Family Science Center, at the college’s spring board meeting on April 13.

Denison’s Library Receives Generous Gift and Plans to Make Improvements

Recently, Denison’s William Howard Doane Library received a gift of $7.5 million from Sue Douthit O’Connell, a member of the class of 1967 and her husband Bob. A major portion of this gift, $5.7 million, will be dedicated to renovations to update multiple different areas of the facility.

The gift is in support of the Unlocking Potential: Investing in Denison comprehension campaign, along with the new narrative nonfiction writing academic program on campus.

Connecticut College Announces $20 Million for the Arts

Connecticut College has received two gifts totaling $20 million for the renovation of Palmer Auditorium and Castle Court into a new and revitalized center for performance and creative research.

Funding for the initiative will be provided through a $10 million grant from the Sherman Fairchild Foundation and a $10 million gift from Nancy Marshall Athey ’72 and Preston Athey, longtime supporters of the College and its arts programs.

KeyBank Donates $10 Million to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Largest Gift in Museum History

On the heels of a highly successful induction ceremony, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has received its largest single financial donation in its history: $10 million from the KeyBank foundation.

The Rock Hall confirmed the news of the donation to WKYC during the induction festivities. KeyBank CEO Beth Mooney says the gift “will help preserve this institution for generations to come.”
