James P. Daniel is an executive partner at Bentz Whaley Flessner. He offers more than thirty-five years of advancement experience—20 years as a major gift officer and vice president and 15 years as a consultant. His consulting focuses on major gifts strategy and on campaign planning and management. He is also a recognized thought leader in the fundraising business model, staff skill-development, the demographics of wealth, and board development.
Before joining the firm, Dr. Daniel served as vice president for development at the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota. Previously, he served as vice president for institutional advancement at Buena Vista University and at the Medical School and Hospitals of the University of Texas Medical Branch. He has served on and chaired the boards of numerous nonprofits and served as chair of a city planning commission and in the lobbies of Congress and two state legislatures.
Dr. Daniel received his Doctorate in Philosophy from Duquesne University and his BA from St. Mary’s University in Minnesota. He is an active researcher and has spoken at meetings and conferences around the country. He is an active member of CASE, AFP, and Minnesota Council on Planned Giving.
