Donations to cancer institute hit $1b

A Dana-Farber Cancer Institute fund-raising campaign has hit the $1 billion mark a year earlier than expected, despite the economy. The campaign is setting what is believed to be a record for New England health care institutions, as the institute has collected more than 1.7 million gifts since the campaign began in late 2003.

Recession’s impact felt less in campus coffers

Despite the down economy, area universities continue to bring in lots of donation dollars, as some donors express that the decision to give is “fairly simple.” In the fiscal year that ended June 30, four schools received cash, pledges and deferred gifts totaling more than $350 million. The University of Kansas even set a fundraising record.

Record-setting year for Rutgers fundraising

Rutgers University collected more than $128 million in new gifts and pledges during 2008-09, a 6 percent increase over the previous year. Among the gifts was $13 million from an anonymous donor, the largest private donation in school history.

UNCG Raises $110.6 Million, Eyes Next Drive

For the capital campaign it kicked off July 1, 2004, with an initial goal of $78.2 million, the University of North Carolina at Greensboro expanded its previous North Carolina focus and worked aggressively to raise money throughout the U.S.

Bucknell Raises $100 Million Plus In Comprehensive Campaign

Bucknell University alumni, parents, grandparents, faculty, staff and friends have committed more than $100 million in gifts and pledges to Bucknell’s comprehensive campaign, the largest such fundraising effort in the University’s history.

Children's Healthcare Plans $2.5B Expansion

Children's Healthcare of Atlanta plans to invest about $2.5 billion. The ambitious plan, dubbed Vision 2018, would include a 100-bed hospital in Forsyth County and boost the health system's workforce by more than 70 percent, to about 12,000.

For-Profit Fund Raisers Kept 54 Cents of Every Dollar Raised, Calif. Study Shows

For-profit fund-raising businesses kept nearly 54 cents of every dollar raised, according to an analysis of more than 5,800 campaigns on behalf of charities that were registered with the state attorney general from 1997 to 2006.

Grand Valley State Announces First Comprehensive Campaign

Leaders at Grand Valley State University say they have raised more than $25 million toward a $50 million, two-year fundraising campaign.

The campaign has been discussed since Haas came to the university nearly two years ago. He said it has gained momentum within the last 18 months. A new library, more specifically a "learning and information commons," is the largest single piece of the project.

Middlebury College Launches $500M Campaign

Middlebury College will launch a five-year campaign to raise $500 million - the largest fundraising campaign ever undertaken by a liberal arts college, according to college president Ronald Liebowitz.
